Supports the care and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wild birds native to Alaska through hands-on volunteering at Bird TLC. Assists with feeding, cleaning, and monitoring avian patients to help prepare them for release back into the wild. In addition to rehabilitation work, collaborates with Bird TLC’s education team to coordinate classroom visits during the school year, bringing live ambassador birds and expert-led programming into learning environments to foster ecological awareness, stewardship, and wonder among students

Launched this small business in response to the urgent educational disruptions caused by COVID-19, Philosophie Tutoring provided individualized academic support to K–8 students navigating remote learning. Rooted in curiosity, care, and connection, sessions emphasized not only academic growth but also emotional resilience and confidence-building during a time of widespread uncertainty. Services included math and literacy tutoring, project-based enrichment, and family support for navigating digital platforms-all tailored with a flexible, people-first approach.
January 2016 – July 2017
Participated in research involving the Alaska Developmental Profile under the direction of Dr. Kathryn Ohle and Dr. Hattie Harvey. Conducted interviews with educators throughout Alaska, transcribed interviews, and performed research analysis tasks. Presented work at the 2016 and 2017 Center for Civic Engagement and Learning Community Engagement Forum; the 2016 Alaska Principals’ Conference; the 2016 National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Annual Conference in Los Angeles, California; the 2017 Anchorage Association for the Education of Young Children (AAEYC) Conference; and the 2017 American Education Research Association (AERA) Conference in San Antonio, Texas.

School Year Programs:
Designed and facilitated creative, developmentally appropriate activities for students across all primary grade levels in before- and after-school settings. Served as a key point of communication with families, responding to parent inquiries with care and efficiency. Led a variety of student clubs—including Chess, Nature, and Comic Book Club—while collaborating with students, families, and school staff to support personal development goals.
Summer Programs:
Led small and large group outdoor education experiences for campers ages 5–13, with a focus on environmental stewardship, confidence-building, and joy in nature. Designed and delivered hands-on lessons in flora and fauna identification, fire building, shelter making, geocaching, outdoor cooking, and Leave No Trace ethics. Maintained lifeguard certification to ensure safety in pool and waterfront environments.
